Kirsten Starcher, ARCTIC’s bassist and keyboard player, recently accompanied Bird to Prey at Toronto’s annual North by Northeast music festival. ARCTIC performed a full band set at the NewMusicWest festival on Thursday, April 27 at the Marine Club in Vancouver. ARCTIC also played two shows at the Media Club (695 Cambie Street) in April: a band show on April 8 and a solo show on April 22.
Marcus Martin and Kirsten Bole were both members of the band for the new rock opera Southern Time by Tim Bartsch of Paint, which played at the WISE Hall in Vancouver from December 4-10. Other members of the band included Jeff Smith on guitar, Alex McKechnie on drums, and Ya-Wen Wang on piano.
ARCTIC doesn’t want to see their namesake melt away. The Vancouver band is auctioning a signed master CD display of their new album, “Today Brought Me Here”, framed along with a license plate from singer/guitarist Marcus Martin’s childhood home in the Northwest Territories. Half the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the World…
On September 23-25, Marcus resolved to challenge himself by recording a full-length ambient album in one weekend, and along with Kirsten, produced a full 76 minutes for AmbientArctic.
